Scientifically Proven
To confirm and further demonstrate the efficiency of NeOpuntia® as a fat binder, BIO SERAE conducted several studies.

2001 : A study conducted in partnership with the TNO Nutrition and Food Research – Netherlands, using the TNO gastrointestinal model ( tool widely used by the pharmaceutical industry ) showed that NeOpuntia® absorbs 28.3% of total fatty acids during a 4 hours time frame.

2003 : BIO SERAE conducted a Pilot Clinical Study based on NeOpuntia®’s fat binding properties. The cactus powder developed by BIO SERAE was thus clinically tested on 10 healthy volunteers aged 21 to 50 (5 women & 5 men) to confirm its capacity to bind fat. The results of this double blind study, controlled by placebo, randomised and crossed on 2 groups suggest that the daily consumption of NeOpuntia® for one week favours the excretion of fat. The quantity of fat excreted compared to the quantity ingested increased on average by 27.4%, when taken NeOpuntia® , compared to placebo.

2004 : In partnership with well-recognised TNO, BIO SERAE conducted a comparative studies between NeOpuntia® and a famous branded Chitosan. The results were clear : Chitosan showed NO EFFECT on the bio-accessibility of fatty acids, in contrast with NeOpuntia® that decreased by 28.3 %.

NeOpuntia® is available in powder form for end product manufacturer. BIO SERAE can also provide with granulated form for direct compression.
