Murgitroyd & Company U.S. Office Generates 50 Percent Revenue Increase

Global intellectual property leader Murgitroyd & Company is reporting a 50 percent increase in revenues at the company’s U.S. operation, which recorded sales of $8.4m in the 2009-2010 fiscal year compared with $5.6m in the preceding year. The U.S. market makes up 20 percent of the revenue for the entire company.

The recent success has enabled the U.S. headquarters in North Carolina to expand its operations, hiring staff and adding 2,700 square feet of new office space.

According to Jamie LeLiever, Global Business Development Manager for Murgitroyd & Company, IP budgets have been reduced and companies are having to do more with less while still maintaining quality. Murgitroyd has been successful in offering clients both large and small access to global buying power through a single point of contact.

The firm's expertise with European patents and trademarks and its award-winning IP Portal are major draws for U.S. companies, LeLiever said, as busy in-house IP departments look to reduce costs and consolidate management of multiple foreign filings.

“Our firm does not operate on the reciprocal model of doing business because the individual needs of clients come first,” said LeLiever. “We make decisions on which foreign agent to instruct based on each passing our ISO quality check, technical fit analysis and price competitiveness.”

Murgitroyd & Company’s roadmap for the next five years is designed to capitalize on the growing demand for enterprise-class IP services, with organic growth in existing markets and expansion into new ones to further its reputation as a proven global intellectual property leader. The firm is looking to duplicate the success of its operations in the Research Triangle Park with the recent launch of an office in Tokyo, Japan. Short-term plans call for continuing to increase overall market share in the U.S. with a special focus on the West Coast.
